Traffic and Link Building Sites

Traffic and Link Building Sites
Experiment for 2008. I will submit 10 different blogs to these accounts. At the end of three, six, nine, and 12 months, I will post the number of hits I received from each.
- Answers.Yahoo.com - You need a Yahoo email address to get started. Look for a question that is covered in your blog/website’s topic. I usually find a question and then write a short article in my blog. I’ll summarize the article in the yahoo answers and then include a link to the article in my blog.
- Bebo.com This is a writer’s community. While it is predominately for book writers, it is a great place to establish a profile and get noticed.
- Blogcatalog.com This is one of the best networks for bloggers. They can create communities, add widgets to their blogs, and show their traffic. I receive a lot of traffic from this site.
- Blogged.com This site is a cross between blogcatalog.com and blogsvine. I am ‘up’ for any site that lets me get my articles out. Problem is that they get me links which builds my Google Page Rank but not ‘hits’ which is needed for Alexa and RealRank
- Bloggingzoom.com This is a place to submit your articles for others to vote on. There are a few sites like this. They are basically RSS type feeds, but they do gain PageRank value.
- Blogsvine.com Select an article, submit it and let people vote on the article.
- Clipmarks.com – This one is easy to use, and includes a button for your browser. Click the button, highlight some text, and hit save.
- Del.icio.us - Del.icio.us is a bookmarking service. Submit your articles here for people to find. I have a blogger associate who gets a lot of traffic from this site. My web analytics software never shows any digs from here.
- Digg.com – This is one of the biggest tech communities. Find an article you like and dig it. You can dig your own articles, for the link building value. The true value of dig is in link building.
- Entrecard.com is one of the best traffic generating sites according to ‘blogger gossiping.’ I am new to the site, so I can’t say too much, but I’ll update later.
- Facebook.com – This is one of the best ways. The secret is joining groups on your topic. Add a link to the group page. Make quality, relevant comments that add to the group.
- Faves.com – Faves is an easy way to pick up links. When you Fave a blog or lens, rate it, add tags and leave a review.
- Feedbite.com – Create a bundle, or news blog. Write a couple of paragraphs on the topic and then include a link to a blog or lens. Others will vote up or down your article and the most popular articles get a pretty decent amount of traffic.
- Gather.com – Gather is a community of writers. Add links to a blog in the keywords placed within an article. This is a very active community. Success depends on your willingness to make friends and be part of the community.
- Help.com This is like Yahoo answers. Just make sure that you don’t advertise or their moderators will catch you.
- Hubpages.com – Hubpages is a very good traffic generation tool. Within the article you can place a link to blogs and websites. Hubpages shares AdSense revenue with members. According to bloggers I know, this is one of the best traffic generating sites.
- Mixx.com - Submit a link for members to vote on. This site is quick to use. Use strong keywords and make sure you are marketing to a niche’ not trying to be everything to everyone.
- MySpace.com – MySpace is bigger than most search engines. Quality content is the key to success. I receive a lot of traffic from this site.
- Reddit.com – Reddit is much like Mixx or Digg. It is very easy to use. I don’t know if I get much traffic from this site. But, it is so easy to post a link that it is great.
- Sitehoppin.com This one is definitely aimed toward a younger crowd. It promises more traffic, but I cannot vouch for that.
- Smallbusinessbrief.com - This is a good place to promote individual blog articles. The theme is business topics.
- StumbleUpon.com – This is a great site, but it limits how many times you can recommend an article per blog or website. I’ve had good results from this site.
- Squidoo.com This site offers free websites, lenses, and a growing community that drives traffic to a website. I’ve only ranked high once on this site. I don’t rank high now, but I am trying to learn how to make the most of this site.
- Technorati.com This site is one of the biggest Social Networking sites. Everyone raves about it – but I haven’t seen a lot of traffic from this site.
- Twitter.com – Twitter is a community. There is no real ‘point’ to the platform. Do not try to sell here. Do not promote. Join in discussions, talk about what you are doing, and from time to time, talk about the lens you may be working on.
- Yearblook.com Another blogsvine type site. Great for Page Rank, but I cannot vouch for traffic.
- YouTube.com - Add a link. YouTube is loved by search engines. It is a great place to build a fan base.
- Zimbio.com – Easy to submit to. Search engine.
Feel free to post your own comments and opinions on these search engines below.
